Dan is a professional musician with a major BA in music and minor in teaching. He specialises in S/A/T/B saxophones, EWI wind synthesiser, clarinet and flute in with firm knowledge of most styles from classical to jazz and a grounding in piano, guitar and drums/percussion.

He has performed as a member, special guest and deputy with artists internationally. He can learn by ear, improvise and read classic and graphic score.
Dan can record sax, clarinet, flute and synth parts at his domestic studio remotely and at short notice. For more larger sessions he works closely with producer Pete Miles at Devon based Middle Farm Studios or can travel to a location of your choice if required and is also part of the Badcore Horns brass section.
For a remote session, all you need to do is send over your track, and anything from a simple brief to a full score. You will receive high quality audio files in the format of your choice.
Dan uses Francois Louis and Rovner ligatures, Selmer/Yanigisawa saxes, Buffet flute and clarinet, Akai EWIs and Moog/Korg synths.
He uses Rode/AKG/Shure microphones, Focusrite pre-amps and Logic/Reason on Mac for recording.
Qualified with a minor BA degree in instrumental teaching, CRB checked and with nearly ten years of hands on experience Dan has proven himself a versatile, energetic and enthusiastic music teacher. He specialises in saxophone, clarinet and flute from beginners upward and also tutors piano, guitar, ukulele and drums at basic level. All styles, ages and abilities can be catered for with a keen focus on encouraging musicianship and performance confidence.
He has tutored privately in London, West Sussex, Cornwall and Devon, spent time running the Chichester University Big Band, and led percussion, woodwind, jazz and orchestral groups at Tavistock Music Academy. In the past he has worked for the Tavistock Area Learning Community clarinet Wider Opportunities scheme, bringing whole class instrument lessons to schools in the area and also as a class music teacher for Millbrook school, running lessons and assemblys.
Dan is currently working as a peripatetic teacher in a number of local schools from reception to A-level including Tavistock primary schools and the college and also tutors privately in the Devon/Cornwall area with a practice studio in the Maker Heights arts complex.
